Flowers for a June Wedding

Life is the flower for which love is the honey (Victor Hugo)

On Saturday, June 18 Cheryl and David were married. The setting for this most important day was at the country home of Cheryl’s closest friend Michele Bailey. The weather was perfect, the setting pastoral, the atmosphere informal. Cheryl and David wanted no pomp and circumstance for this significant event. They wanted simply to have those who were nearest and dearest to them witness their commitment and love for each other in matrimony and to celebrate in a relaxed and unpretentious style.

It was my great honour to provide the florals. My only guidelines were that the colours were to be white and bright green and that the look was to be casual but sophisticated. Peonies bloom in June, so it was only natural that I chose these lacy, fragrant, beautiful flowers. The peonies were mixed with bright green Peruvian hydrangea, large white Casablanca lilies, hosta leaves and trails of ivy. The visual result was befitting of this unassuming yet refined couple and the bucolic surroundings.

The bride was surprised and delighted with the results. And she made a point of giving each arrangement to a guest so that they could continue to enjoy the day long after the festivities were over. Many of the guests reported that the arrangements lasted an additional 10 days!
